Through her teaching - most significantly at University of Leeds for 20 years - and her practice of inviting others to exhibit, perform, write, or speak within her exhibitions and projects, Emma Rushton has worked with emerging and established artists, craftspeople, writers, musicians, cultural workers, designers, theorists, and curators, resulting in knowledge of many different practices and materials, styles and ways of working, nationally and internationally. She has exhibited predominantly in artist-run spaces and public galleries and worked with many young artists on setting up and making use of unused spaces for exhibition.
